Just a general comment about the new format, unrelated to the Chet Chat Podcast…

I think it’s a major mistake to give up the indentation for replies to comments. Much clarity is lost from a discussion without that indication. Please work it back in to the code!

I don’t think we “gave it up,” at least not willingly, but more that it “got away”. I am sure it will return soon…it’s certainly on the list of things needing attention :-)

Cricket is easy to explain:

You have a guy with a ball and a guy with a bat. The guy with the ball throws it at the guy with the bat, who makes a half-hearted attempt to hit the ball. Whether the ball is hit or not, the players all run back and forth, and everyone claps even though absolutely nothing has happened.

Then another guy pulls some numbers out of his butt and puts them on a scoreboard, which everyone pretends to understand.

It’s a bit like Mornington Crescent, but less complex.

The one thing in cricket that “the guy with the ball” is absolutely *not* allowed to do is to *throw* it at “the guy with the bat” (of which there are in fact, two on the ground at any time :-)

The issue of “throwing” in cricket – or “chucking,” as it is known – by the bowler is an issue that has caused international incidents.

Also, in cricket, no one has a “butt.” A butt is used to store fluids in or to shoot at, if I may use prepositions to end some phrases with.

Cricket’s not just about a simple bat and ball.

THIS is a game steeped in tradition with this current modern version first being played in the 18th Century.

The Glamour of the Traditional cricket white clothes cannot be underestimated together with the subtle rubbing and handling of the ball which looks laid back……….but all the time is a mask of tremendous force, power and tactics.

Around 120 million people are estimated to play cricket……………and……they take it very seriously!

The jiggling of the images upon mouse over is going to make me sick. Sorry, but I like you guys and have to be honest.
