To mark this year’s Earth Day on April 22, our global team is taking part in a “Plant a Tree” employee challenge and is invited to join our new Sophos Environment Network.

The theme of this year’s Earth Day is “Restore Our Earth”, which focuses on natural processes, emerging green technologies, and innovative thinking that can restore the world’s ecosystems.

One way we can help to Restore Our Earth is through reforestation efforts. Earth Day recognizes that planting billions of trees across the world is one of the biggest and cheapest ways of taking CO2 out of the atmosphere to tackle the climate crisis. Reforestation also helps to provide vital habitats for animals and other plants, purify the air we breathe, regulate local temperatures, protect soil from erosion, and reduce the risk of flooding.

All Sophos employees are invited to take part in our prize-winning global Plant a Tree campaign. Even if they don’t have a garden or lack space, even planting a tree in a pot can help to rebalance air quality in their region.

As a company we are donating to Earth Day’s Canopy Project, which empowers people across the globe to conserve, repair, and restore tree cover and rebuild local economies. Canopy Project’s tree planting takes place in communities challenged by the impacts of climate change and deforestation.

Sophos has an Environmental Sustainability Hub page, where employees can find sustainability and climate change resources, guidance on changes they can make at home, employee volunteering opportunities, and sustainability charities and causes. We also share details about our commitment as a business and what we are doing to mitigate climate change and to pursue greenhouse gas reduction, pollution prevention, resource conservation, and waste reduction in our operations.
