Yesterday, we posted the first of three holiday songs that remind us why good security is the best gift of all.
Here’s today’s installment, borrowing from (or one might say corrupting) one of the most popular holiday movies of all time, The Sound of Music.
My Least Favorite Things
To the tune of “My Favorite Things“
Malware on endpoints and exploit kit drive-bys
Network intrusions and enemy spies
PDF scripts filled with malicious strings
These are a few of my least favorite things
Word docs with macros and spam that convinces
Tempting attachments and Nigerian princes
Ransomware and all the hassle it brings
These are a few of my least favorite things
When hackers win, when they’re hailed as kings
When I’m feeling mad
I know Sophos blocks my least favorite things
Like Trojans and phishing and unallowed pings
And then I don’t feel so bad
All of us at Sophos wish you a safe and secure holiday season and a happy New Year!
M O'Connor
I have mumbled the above poem to myself on a bus and have had a few odd looks
Perhaps it sounds better in private :-)

Yes, most likely it’s best performed in private. I also got in trouble for sharing it with my wife, who then had the melody stuck in her head the rest of the day.
I should also clarify that I know this is not, technically, a holiday song nor from a holiday movie. Yet, here in the U.S., The Sound of Music is shown on TV every year right around Christmas. So, it has become a de facto holiday movie, and My Favorite Things in particular (perhaps because of references to jingle bells and such) has become a de facto holiday song.
