Session Vincent Vanbiervliet – The new EU Data Protection Regulation – Encrypt now and prevent million dollar fines!

The EU is currently finalizing their new Data Protection Regulation which will apply one consistent set of requirements for all organizations that hold data on European citizens. In terms of personal data security, the proposed legislation will require everyone who holds data on European citizens to implement appropriate security measures to protect the data. Failure to comply can incur fines of up to EURO 100 million or 5% annual turnover. Encryption is one of the most recommended security measures to prevent such penalties. During this session, Sophos’ Vincent Vanbiervliet tells you what you need to know about this new regulation and how you can prepare your organization for its arrival.
