Our Commitment to Sustainability

Sustainability

The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) has put climate change firmly at the top of the global agenda. We all have a part to play to tackle climate change — and Sophos is no exception.

To recognize the importance of COP26 and the urgency of the climate change crisis, Sophos is donating $50,000 USD to the World Resources Institute, which develops practical solutions that improve people’s lives and protect nature. The organization promotes environmental sustainability, economic opportunity, and human health and wellbeing. The WRI’s programs focus on solving seven major challenges at the intersection of environment and human development: cities, climate, energy, food, forests, the ocean, and water.

What is the COP26?
The UK is hosting the COP26 summit this month, bringing parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought devastation to millions around the world, disrupting many parts of the global economy. Governments have stepped up to protect lives and livelihoods, but climate change has continued, and it ultimately threatens life on earth. As countries begin to recover from the pandemic, COP26 is taking the historic opportunity to tackle climate change at the same time – to build back better, and greener.

Our Commitment to Sustainability
Earlier this year, we launched our sustainability program, which details our commitment as a business and what we are doing to mitigate climate change and to pursue greenhouse gas reduction, pollution prevention, resource conservation, and waste reduction in our operations. Our program pledges to:

Our dedicated Environmental Sustainability Hub also provides sustainability and climate change resources, guidance on changes employees can make at home, employee volunteering opportunities, and sustainability charities and causes.

Our Environment Network is an open forum for all employees to join, discuss and guide Sophos on how and what we can do as a company to contribute to sustainability and reduce our own environmental footprint.
