RSA Conference 2018: Expert talks, virtual reality and free socks!

What have we got in store for you at RSA Conference 2018?

The RSA Conference 2018 is the place to be this week, as IT professionals, security vendors, media and more head to the Moscone Center in San Francisco. We’ll be there, so come and find us at booth 3201 in the North Expo Hall to learn about the latest product updates, watch live demos and chat to us about everything from fighting cryptojacking to the difference between machine learning and deep learning.

You’ll also be able to catch our experts at the booth and during conference sessions where they will be speaking on the hottest topics in cybersecurity today. Featured sessions include:

Chester Wisniewski, principal research scientist, will be facilitator at the Moving from Security Awareness to Security Culture session which takes place on Wednesday at 12:30 pm – 1:15 pm in Golden Gate A – Table H, Marriott.

Dan Schiappa, general manager and senior vice president of products, will be discussing how adapting to threats in real time is the future of cybersecurity. Dan’s session, Charles Darwin, Cybersecurity Visionary? Surviving When Predator is Hacker, takes place on Wednesday at 1:45 pm – 2:30 pm in Moscone North 20.

Michael Wood, senior manager of dynamic protection, will be talking about Playing Games in the Sandbox – Dynamic Analysis and Modern Evasion Tactics, which will look at how modern threats are trying to evade sandboxing technology, as well as ways to improve the effectiveness of the sandbox. This session takes place on Friday at 11:30 am – 12:15 pm in Moscone West 2009.

Here’s a sample of some of the talks you’ll be able to hear at our booth:

  • In addition to his sessions above, Chester Wisniewski will be demonstrating ransomware-as-a-service and offering a view from the dark side with his Ransomware Academy sessions;
  • Marty Ward, vice president of product marketing, will be leading a Deep Dive into Deep Learning, looking at how deep learning protects against never-before-seen threats;
  • Matt Hickey, director of sales engineering, will be highlighting the Dirty Secrets of Network Firewalls, including how firewalls are failing and how the US stacks up when it comes to firewall issues;
  • Karl Ackerman, principal product manager, will be discussing Cryptojacking and How to Fight Back and why a layered approach to security is the best defense.

While you’re at the booth quizzing our experts, you’ll be able to test your own cybersecurity skills. So, get ready to don the virtual reality goggles and see how long it takes you to spot an exploit, identify an attack, figure out what was hit, and decide what to do next in our Deep Dimension game.

And, get yourself a pair of our oh-so-cool Sophos socks and be in with a chance of winning a Sophos drone! (Just remember, our swag is really popular, so grab some while stocks last.)

Can’t make it to San Francisco?

For those who can’t make it to RSA in person, we’ve got you covered. Chet will be answering the question Does Malware Have Citizenship? Who’s Infecting Us and Does It Matter. Join the discussion about whether restricting connections to and from different countries is effective, live online on Tuesday at 2:30 pm – 3:00 pm.
