Sophos staff pedal their way to fundraising goal

The Sophos Interceptors took to their bikes and raised £33,500 for charity

The Sophos Interceptors hit the road, riding a staggering 100 miles in a single day at the end of July to raise money for Aspire, a charity helping those with spinal cord injuries live full, healthy lives.

More than two dozen Sophos employees joined CEO Kris Hagerman and CFO Nick Bray in donning the company colors, beginning their trek at 5 a.m. with the goal of raising at least £20,000. But, before wheels even touched pavement, generosity won out – the team raised over £26,000 before the race began, which meant all they had to do was successfully travel 100 miles and make their journey to the finish line. The final amount raised was over £28,000, plus another £5,500 in gift aid, making a total over £33,500 for Aspire.

The Sophos Interceptors also hosted “Wellfest,” a day of fun and fitness to help raise additional funding for Aspire. Sophos staff could get involved by pedaling on the “smoothie bike” to blend their own smoothies and taking the “watt challenge” to create electricity, while groups could team up to challenge themselves with cycle sprints or spin bike and rowing speed challenges.

Plus, just prior to the race, the team hosted a car wash, cake sale and a huge raffle – all contributing to exceeding their fundraising goal.
