Whether as part of business or personal life, information privacy and security is now an aspect of day-to-day life. So if you have any concerns or interests in privacy matters, then please feel welcome to come along for discussion, or simply to relax and get to know other people with practical or personal involvements in privacy issues.
These Privacy After Hours events are being organised by members of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) and typically there is no formal structure, just an evening with some new friends.
As per last time, this Reading event will have hot snacks and chips provided throughout the evening to give a warm welcome and to provide encouragement for you to come along and join us.
Last time we discussed:
- Contactless payment cards
- Dreadful bank security in emails and during phone calls
- IP addresses as personally identifiable information
- Safe Harbor vs Binding Corporate Rules
- Spam
- The line between privacy concerns and paranoia
- Balance of legal to technical within IAPP
- Encryption by default
- Which IAPP qualifications people had and why they chose them one (e.g., two techies with legislation based certs)
- Comparing the different exams
- And much more
Please RSVP now to register for the Reading or other locations around the world. Though you are welcome to drop by anyway, registering will help us judge how many to expect.
