Smaller businesses are quickly adopting mobile technologies in order to enjoy the same flexibility and productivity enhancements mobile devices provide large enterprises. But there’s a dilemma: smaller businesses do not have the same resources bigger ones can tap into for managing and protecting mobile devices.
A new report published by analyst firm Gartner, Inc. highlights the challenges facing small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) in managing today’s mobile workforce within their budgets and staffing levels.
The report, titled The Six Pain Points of Managing Mobile Devices for Small or Midsize Businesses, describes how SMBs can navigate these difficulties with an effective, affordable, and easy-to-manage MDM system.
Gartner’s report also provides clear recommendations for SMBs in assessing MDM solutions. Finally, the report assesses several of the MDM vendors in the market today and describes the value proposition of each of their MDM offerings.
According to Gartner, the six main pain points felt by SMBs in managing mobile devices are:
- Price
- Deployment options
- Security
- Usability
- Training
- Support
Gartner provides recommendations and advice SMBs can use to answer some of the most pressing questions about mobile device management, such as:
- Is adopting a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) policy right for your business?
- Is it better to have an MDM solution on premise, or managed from the cloud?
- What kind of security settings do you need to balance security with usability?
With more than 100 vendors in the MDM marketplace, SMBs need help in considering their best options to solve these challenges. If you’re looking to implement an MDM solution, this report gives you the recommendations you need to evaluate MDM solutions.
