What we learned from the Target data breach about PoS security (Presentation)

The attack on Target last December that compromised more than 100 million customer records — including 40 million debit and credit card numbers — has altered the landscape for data security in the United States. Lawmakers, the retail industry, and banks and card issuers are scrambling to contain the damage caused by costly identity theft and fraud from stolen payment card numbers.

Our security experts have a lot of helpful advice for businesses worried about data theft by cybercriminals, starting with prevention. In a webcast recorded this week, Sophos Senior Security Adviser Chester Wisniewski breaks down the recent data breaches of Target and other big retailers like Neiman Marcus, Michaels, and Sally Beauty. He also explains the growing threat of malware on point-of-sale (PoS) systems. Watch the recording below or on our Sophos YouTube channel.
